Saying Goodbye to George Bush 41
Friday, December 07, 2018
As I listened to President Bush (41)'s funeral held at the National Cathedral yesterday, I was surprised that I couldn't help tearing up over the truly moving eulogies given, and then today as I listened to the service given at St. Martin's Episcopal Church today just a few miles from where my family lived in Houston, I choked up again...
If I hadn't had other pressing obligations here, I think I would've driven to College Station to pay my respects to this truly decent man.... Many in the Texas A&M family considered him a regular sight as he often used to appear on the A&M campus while visiting his presidential library, and I know that the Aggie message boards were full of stories of his kind personal interactions with students over the last 20+ years since his library opened there.
There is nothing like a funeral service to stimulate soul searching, and self examination, and considering one's own message and mortality.... George Bush's was exactly that, the outpouring of love, and confidence in a loving, heavenly Father Who demonstrated His love through the salvation available in Christ. I was moved.
There will be time, certainly, to visit his grave after all the hubbub has died down..He was one of the Good Guys, and we will miss him.
