Yielding to temptation

35 years ago, when I lived in Alaska, I had a teenage son and a husband who was tall and weighed over 300#. As a consequence, when I went grocery shopping, I could buy all the treats that caught my eye. That satisfied me. I didn't have to stop myself from indulging in the purchase, but when they got home the treats would be eaten by my hungry family.
Now, in a variation on a theme, I am buying all the Christmas treats I desire and, when they arrive on my porch, I wrap them up as gifts for others in my life. Even my dog walker, who can't eat sweets, appreciated the thought and gave it to her husband. The happiness just spreads, but my waistline doesn't.
