Minding my own business

Monday, December 03, 2018

I am so irritated about today in school. the teacher next to me was out and there was no coverage nor emergency lesson plans. So part of my plan was spent trying to get the person who ended up covering the room some work so the kids were not bouncing off the walls. then, an IEP meeting which took longer than my plan so I was running behind to all my classes today. I hate when people do not do their job and leave disaster in their wake.

I had to go to my classes and remind myself that I am the one thing in life I can control and it is not my responsibility to do make sure other people do their job. I wish my principal was more on top of this.

Not the way to start a week emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

No one knows the amount of WORK that is done daily by a Teacher unless they personally know one. Every Sunday is a lesson planning or marking day. It’s unreal how hard it would be to make up lesson plans when you ill, just to cover the incoming substitute Teacher.
Gail to you and all of our revered Educators! May the Force Be With You, and your poor next door Teacher. Hope they recover quickly. It’s a tough season to be ill while Teaching
Many thanks for ever last effort of yours.
One more thing is I am shocked as a Canadian that Teachers in USA do not receive Maternity Leave straight across the board- that one must save up sick days to use
Especially knowing the largest Workers Union in North America is the joint Canada-USA Teachers union.
Also I am shocked at how low the pay rate for a certified Teacher can be. I have heard some make $23,000 a year or LESS!!
Plus, in Canada, even the Substitute Teacher’s daily paybis near $270, and in New England across the board Substitute Teachers make $90 and take home about $60. Unacceptable. Period.
