Weekly Goals - Loving Myself Whole Again

Let's welcome December with a new attitude, a new focus and new goals. Last week my main focus was to eat less, move more and get my emotional eating under control. Well, my emotional eating was all over the place last week because my late mother's birthday was on Thursday. I found it ironic that I finally made it in to see the specialist on Friday concerning my on-gong water retention issues and lymphedema of my legs/ankles. The doctor is thinking he can reduce my swelling by giving me dietary restrictions which in return would help me lose weight. So effective immediately, here are my "strict" diet restrictions:

1. No processed food (No sugar/substitutes, No bread, No potatoes/rice)
2. No frozen meals
3. No canned soups
4. No adding salt
5. No fast food
6. Only drink water (No juice, tea, coffee, shakes, smoothies, soups)
7. Eat salad with any dressing
8. Eat Fresh or frozen veggies
9. Eat Fresh or frozen meat
10. Eat Fresh fruits
11. Eat Eggs, Plain Yogurt, Mozzarella Cheese
12. Oatmeal

I have to be honest, this is going to be hard for me, but I am glad that he is taking this approach and not giving me medication. Nevertheless, I have put my best foot forward and have really done 90% of what is on this list since Friday which I have to smile about. Here's some of my praise reports so far: Since Friday, I have not had any restaurant foods, carbs/sweets, juices, frozen meals or soups. Now, I have been drinking my water, but I did add 1/2% milk to my oatmeal. I am trying not to think of it as "restrictions" and just approach this one day at a time, one meal at a time while making healthier choices. It's hard when your children want foods that you sometimes crave like pizza, pancakes, fries or ice cream. So far, I have not caved in and cheated. I have plenty of fresh fruit and veggies available. Since I have been spending a lot of time grocery shopping and getting my meals together this weekend, I could not really focus on my exercise. However, starting tomorrow I plan to get in ALL of my exercise and follow my diet as noted. I will make a note in blogs and in my journal of ALL my struggles as well as my successes throughout this journey. I am confident that I will see my weight move in the right direction once I start moving my body, eating less and drinking my water.
