Dancing into December
Friday, November 30, 2018
Well, not me, but I'm sure someone is doing that somewhere. Me, on this last day of November, I was listening to the Katatonia album, "Dance of December Souls." And even though "Tomb of Insomnia" somewhat accurately describes my woes these days, I decided to present to you the kinder outro to that album, "Dancing December."
Not much to say today. Played pickleball in the morning, but wasn't particularly feeling it, especially after my elbow started complaining. The rest of the day just...kinda passed by. Jumped in the shower at ~8 pm, because it felt like the thing to do before changing into pajamas and preparing for bed, only to remember, halfway through, that I'd already showered after getting home from the gym. I was ready to fall asleep then, but instead of relaxing me, the cascade reinvigorated me, and now it's 10:30 and I'm wide awake. Let's see if the tiredness or the insomnia win out tonight.
Had an enjoyable night Thursday night. My friend Nicole was indeed there, and the talk was interesting. Afterwards, wandered over to the Jolly Pumpkin, a nearby bar (this was in Detroit), with her and a couple of her friends who are faculty at the school hosting the talk (Wayne State University, a place where I got a masters degree years ago...that bar did not exist back in those days), and sat at a spot sporting a "Obama sat here" plaque.
I'll have to go back out there and catch a planetarium show at some point soon.
