All hail the micrometeorite!

So in an hour or so, I'm going to head out to go see a lecture about the extraterrestrials in your backyard, aka micrometeorites. Not exactly uncommon, me going to some random event on a nearby campus, especially when it's free, although this one's a 35 minute drive rather than the usual 15 I invest in such pursuits. The reason for the longer haul is that a friend indicated interest in the event, and I thought it sounded interesting, so I went ahead and put in an RSVP for it, and I haven't un-RSVP'd for it, and I'm still interested, and I've got nothing else going on this evening, so why the heck not?
Odd thing? I just realized that I have no clue whether that friend decided to go to the lecture or not. And I'm kind of leaning against just texting and finding out in advance whether friend decided to go. "Why spoil the surprise?" versus "Disappointment at not seeing friend," that's the little war inside my head right now. As far as wars go, this one's pretty inconsequential, especially seeing as how I hung out with this particular friend just a few days ago.
But there you have it.
A more consequential decision may have to do with "what do I want to eat tonight?" The timing of the lecture is such that I'll grab something on the way out there, and while I have two gift cards with remaining value on them, I'm not entirely sure the 'free' consideration outweighs the pull towards a particular barbecue spot I've been meaning to get back to for a while. So that decision remains on tap.
Lessee, what else to say? Oh, yeah, BLC 38 came to an end yesterday, and I'm happy to report that I lost weight for a second round in a row, although this round's loss was a modest 2.6 pounds over the course of the 12 weeks. Thanksgiving falling BEFORE the final weigh in didn't help, but a weekend of gluttony seems to only have cost me a pound and change. Not having lost any weight (and actually having gained!) in the previous rounds I participated in, I'l take any loss and run. Signed up for the next one, with the same 8 pounds over 12 weeks goal in mind.
14 minutes for this entry.
