In the last few days, I've read blogs from others who are answering the question "what is my why?". Their answers have been inspirational and thought-provoking. While my aim is not necessarily to achieve either of those accolades, I thought I would post a sort of free-association blog on the topic.
I hope to hold myself more accountable and achieve more of a focus and dedication to this journey. I have been flirting with it lately. Sort of like a real life situation I was in many years ago. I had the opportunity to step aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) when she came home with my brother on deck. Parts of one deck had yellow and black tape warning that, if anyone stepped over that tape, they would be shot. The analogy is that, if I step over my food plan barrier, my weight loss goal for that week / month / year may not be met. An imperfect analogy, I grant you, but one that should keep my fork aimed at the better food choices...
What is my why? It is all about quality of life. That encompasses many things, so, I will break it down in subsequent blogs, but, if I were to draw this, the outer circle would be quality of life. Within that circle would be sections for mobility, lack of pain, strength, ability to do X, better health, clothes that make me feel wonderful, etc.
I want to live the last years of my life better than I have lived all the ones prior to this one. I must take better care of myself in order to do that!
