Thought of the Moment:
"Let's remember that taking even a brief moment to be kind, thoughtful,
and friendly can inject great warmth and hope into a lonely person's day."
Loneliness has been associated with the holidays for quite some time now. I am so glad we get to see a lot of family from the end of November through New Years. Some, a few times.
Next week we will be having the family get together for my side of the family. Found out yesterday that some of the nieces and nephews will not be able to come. My DD is in charge this year and she called me several times yesterday to help her get all her 'ducks in a row' and tie up loose ends. I am helping with several of the table settings. She had such a neat idea for the tables to be set with centerpieces representing the different seasons. I am donating a cactus cookie jar for a summer table, a stuffed pumpkin for a fall table, and making a spring arrangement in a lovely spring container she picked up. These centerpieces will be given as door prizes. We are not having a fancy food fair. Soup, sandwiches, salad, desserts, . . .
Since we don't have to focus on a big meal, the focus will be on fellowship, games for the generations to do together and reminiscing about our family's past. She wants the younger generations to know more about the older generation.
About loneliness, if you know someone who doesn't have any family connections, I hope you can find a way to encourage them.
Blessings to my Spark Friends!!!
