Dealing with changes

Saturday, November 24, 2018

Our little community has been dealing with changes,
as all communities do. A business closed after almost
100 years. Implement stores and shops are so different
now and this business housed parts for equipment that
no longer exists or are collectors items. It was hard to
sell out but the current owners are in their late 60's and
early 70's and have no one to take over the business.
The building itself needs repairs but the new owner intends
to do that. It will probably just be for personal storage
and not any new business. Time will tell.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by.

I hate to see small businesses close their doors and then not reopen. It is a sad part in American history.

These changes have happened in my hometown too. It's a small town that really is kind of a bedroom town as the work, besides farming, with people going to the larger town near by.
    Enjoy your weekend/Sunday.

It is a shame to watch all the little towns and small businesses close. My home town used to have a grocery store, a Western Auto that also sold groceries, a furniture store, a lumber yard, a couple of restaurants and they are all gone. Now people have to drive 20 mi in one direction or 25 in the other to grocery shop although a Dollar General has gone in which helps with a few items if you are in a pinch. The grade school no longer exists-it has been combined with schools in 2 other towns. The high school I attended is the only school left in town and it now hosts our former biggest rivals as students!!

Change can be hard though. It's always a little sad to see something that's "always" been there, one day gone. Still, it's sometimes for the best. emoticon

Today a marionette theater, BOB BAKERS' Marionettes closed after 55 years. (Los Angeles, CA) They will still perform for touring shows. Bob, a personal friend of ours, passed at 92 years, last year. (Our marionette theater closed in 1977, after 19 years, I am carrying on the tradition, through my small company traveling shows, DH & I opened in 1978)

They say the only things that are certain are death and taxes. I’d like to add “change. “It’s inevitable!

so many businesses in CT closing and empty store fronts. Where Walmart use to be in New Britain, it took 9 years for the building to be rented out. Now it is a self storage.
