Gratitude can be powerful...

Saturday, November 17, 2018

I try to grateful for all the blessings in my life, for I am truly blessed with supportive family and the resources to live independently, despite my disability. Sometimes it takes more effort to remember that gratitude and express it, but I find it’s never wasted effort. At the moment I am having to work to not descend into depression, but I find that when I take the time to really stop and consider all that I have to be grateful for, my mood lightens a little (or a lot)... gratitude is a powerful force in my life. It gets my mind thinking positively, and makes me consider what good I can be doing in the world as well. Not as a way of garnering others’ gratitude, but just as a way of giving myself even more to be grateful for... it brings light into my darkness, and illuminates the difficult times with joy or contentment. It gets me out of my own head, out of my own misery... and makes me consider all the little (or big) things I have in my life, and my loved ones lives to be thankful for... and there’s a lot to be thankful about! I just have to make the effort to acknowledge it all. And it’s one thing to admit and acknowledge to myself... and yet another to express it to someone else. I know that tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us, so I try to let other people know that I am grateful for their time/energy/presence. It is so easy to take people and things for granted. It takes me conscious effort to express my gratitude. So, thank you. Thanks for being a spark friend. Thanks for your support and encouragement on this journey to a healthier lifestyle. Thank you!
