Thank You

Friday, November 16, 2018

First, I just want to thank everyone who commented on my blog yesterday. My favorite part of SP is the community that supports you when you're feeling down and frustrated. Even though many people didn't have advice, it still helped.

Second, I wrote to a SP Coach and got some good advice. First, I'm going to put my scale away for the next two or three weeks. I know what it's going to say, so there's no point in torturing myself, right? The next thing I'm going to do is keep working on improving my diet. I've wanted to try a whole foods, plant based diet like the one the Forks Over Knives promotes, so I'm going to do that for the next 6 weeks and see if it helps. I went to the grocery store today and bought all the vegetables! I have so much colorful stuff in my fridge and I found a bunch of new recipes that I'm looking forward to trying.

The next thing I'm going to work on is getting my triglycerides down. I've been working on this for a couple of months, but I need to go get my blood test done again this weekend or next week. I started taking fish oil pills and cut out red meat. I also have worked on eating less sugar and processed desserts (the stuff that I just love). I found a moderately healthy vegan peach cobbler to make this weekend that has not refined sugar or white flour in it, so I'm hoping that hits the sweet spot.

Finally, I'm working on exercising more. I currently walk for about 20-30 minutes two days a week, but I know I need to do more. I'm going to aim to get a walk in 3-4 times next week. Since I'm off of school the whole week (except Tuesday), I think that's a good goal. I also want to keep doing SP exercise videos, which I enjoy, and see how many days total I can get in next week.

Any other suggestions for me, SP Community?

It's good to see you've got a great plan to work on! I haven't heard of Forks over Knives but I'm going to take a look at that. I like your idea for starting out 2 days and building up. I think having goals set too high can be frustrating and defeating. You can do this! We're all in this together!

It sounds to me like a great plan. One of my favorite treats is fresh fruit with plain Greek yogurt.
Something I add nuts which are supposed to be good at lowering triglycerides.
