Thanksgiving Begins

Thursday, November 15, 2018

Last night we held the annual Thanksgiving meal for our community. Food was donated by businesses and individuals and invitations were issued by postings at the local businesses and online for any in the community who wanted to come. The host planning group was the Backyard Bible group and the children were so excited to invite , parents, grandparents and friends and neighbors.

One of our local ministers spoke about Jesus healing the lepers and how all were so happy when he cured then of the horrible disease, but , only one came back to Jesus to say "Thank you".

The meal was great and included Turkey, ham, salads, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, bread, beverages and desserts of all kinds.

On Sunday, the 18th, my family will come for our Thanksgiving meal and it will be our first without Mom or Dad. My sisters and my brother(deceased) will all have children here to fellowship and enjoy the food. In 2019 we have a wedding and a birth to celebrate so the family continues as families do with adjustments each year.

Wishing all my Spark friends a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Great way for the community to come together. We all have those loved ones that will be greatly missed at our tables!! We can honor them by being together and remembering the great moments.

The community thanksgiving meal is so wonderful, one of our local restaurants puts on a free Thanksgiving meal to anyone in need. They have 2 seatings. It's such a generous gesture on their part.

We are also facing a first Thanksgiving without my Dad and my DH's son. We will think of them and be thankful for being together.

As time passes, traditions are modified, but continue. Death/birth, divorce/marriage, transfers/promotions all join forces to make change the only constant. But strong traditions adjust to allow us to continue to share the fundamentals instilled in us since childhood.

These gatherings and traditions are the rock on which we all anchor our families.

    Thanks for sharing yours.
