November here can change drastically from day to day. We adopted a new puppy Friday, and the weather was perfect for getting out and working in the yard. 9 week little Rosie was doing great going potty outside and was getting the hang of it acting very excited and proud. I know it was the treats I had in the bag in my pocket for successful actions in the yard. Indoors there is a puppy pad or two on the floor, which she was already used to using. They had done a good job already with her training on that. She had never set foot outside the kitchen though, so that was an exciting thrill to play in the leaves and she was fun to watch.

Rosie turned 9 weeks Sunday, is 3.5 pounds, and a little Pom Chi mix. She wants to chew on everything and I am wondering what I have gotten us into! I seem to forget how time consuming puppies are! I was originally thinking I would look for an older dog, but this one appeared and stole our hearts.

Monday the bitter cold snow came. Poor Rosie didn't want much to do with the outdoors then, especially after dark. But she can last a few minutes in the daytime. Just love those dog pads for the kitchen. Life saver! Or floor saver! It is 13 degrees F out there right now but supposed to feel like 7. I believe it. My phone keeps telling me we are under a winter advisory. This is the wrong time of the year to potty train a puppy! But we will make the best of it.

I wrote a long blog Sunday afternoon, but it disappeared somehow when I tried to post. I am hoping for better luck today. My little laptop can be cantankerous sometimes. So going to post before I lose it again.

I'm sure if you post Rosie's picture, she will steal our hearts. I have two dogs currently. They are both rescue dogs and beautiful. One is a Bichon Frise/Sh--zu mix and the other is a German shepherd mix. Those of us who love dogs know that they are members of our families. I hope you will keep us informed of Rosie's progress.

Have fun with Rosie! You might consider crate training her; dogs will not urinate or deficate where they sleep. She will also identify the crate as her special place and it becomes her shelter, a place where she will willingly go when you have to leave her alone for any reason.
Cold here too and we are getting light snow that is due to change to rain later. Ah, the joys of November.

Well, this blog made it, and I'm melting over the concept of Rosie brightening up your life! emoticon You're so right about the amount of time puppies take! But they give back so much, and they grow into great dogs when you invest that time! emoticon
