Mercy, Peace and Love – Day 40

Called, sanctified by God the Father and preserved in Christ Jesus

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness by which they lie in wait to deceive, but speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies according to the effective working by which every part does its share causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love” (Ephesians 4:11-16).

It is high time we grow up in our faith and not be tossed to and fro by the enemy, or be carried about by every interpretation of doctrine that we hear from trendy sources. Christ is the head of His body. He assigns our position within the body of Christ. We must not become envious of other Christians because the calling God has placed on their life appears to be more important than the calling He has assigned us. Every part of the body is critical to the health of the other parts.

Over the years, I have met Christians who have wonderful talents by which they share the gospel of Christ. I appreciate all that they add to the body of Christ. I cherish the love that God has placed in our hearts, not only for Him, but also for one another.

This is an important message, one to be heeded by all. Jesus said, "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Matthew 24:4-5)

Paul also warns believers, "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel [messenger] of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers [servants] also be transformed as the ministers [servants] of righteousness" (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). This is the hypocrisy Jesus spoke of when he addressed the Pharisees and scribes (Matthew 23:5, 13-28).

I agree with your blog. God commanded us to love one another. If we don't, we don't have love in our hearts. emoticon emoticon emoticon
