Gratitude Day 8

Thursday, November 08, 2018

Today I am grateful for our house. When I was 15 or 16, my dad was redoing a kitchen for this guy. I remember standing in his kitchen telling him I would lay things out. That moment planted a desire to totally redo a house. Wouldn't it be fun to take something out dated and ugly and bring it back to life (yes, this is totally before it was cool to flip houses).
After years of moving around we finally decided to "settle" about 18 months ago. Moving back home was more of a challenge than we anticipated. As much as I would have loved a brand new home or even a home with everything we wanted, that isn't always possible. We came across this house that had close to everything we needed and wanted. It was now up to us to update it and turn it into home. I have spent the last several months painting, ripping things out, fixing things, building beds, installing new sinks, lights, floors. Even though we are far from done, it is slowly coming along. Bit by bit, it is becoming home and we are filling our dream of totally remodeling a house.
