Total shoulder replacement surgery
Sunday, November 04, 2018
Thought I'd already blogged this, but can't find it. So, here I go again.
On Wednesday Nov 7 I'm scheduled for a total shoulder replacement to relieve the pain from the arthritis and bone spurs that I've been suffering from for 10 years, well more than that.
I'm thankful I finally found a Dr who believed me (and I've been through a few of them!)
I am also thankful he is taking precautions to lessen the risk of infection/contamination during surgery. So many hospitals are not really safe anymore.... (just google MRSA/MSSA) and I try my best to stay away from them.
I am following a strict regiment of isolation from people, changing sheets daily, bathing daily using an Rx, applying a nasal Rx, etc., etc.
I'm also keeping up with an exercise program prepared by my Physical Therapist. (And I'm already scheduled for PT 10 days after surgery.... whew!)
Hopefully all of this will set me up for the best outcome during and after surgery.
My arm will remain isolated in a padded sling that I'll have to wear 24/7 for 6 weeks....which I will affectionately (NOT!) refer to as my new dancing partner.
Thankfully the surgery is on my left shoulder, and I am right handed, so at least I won't have to go through the frustrations I did when my right collarbone was broken in 3 places about 15 years ago.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I probably won't be around much for a while. Not sure if I'll be with it enough to keep my 1228 day Log in Streak going after surgery. But I'm gonna try.
So, happy trails to you, until we meet again!
