Today was a book store trip out of town. We got Steven King's new book, then ordered one to ship to my home. We had a nice lunch and returned home.
I hung some wall decor and my college diploma in it's matted frame, on my bedroom wall yesterday, adjusted my wood blinds and brought some more things upstairs for the living room mantel. I did bring up some of my antique button collection, and will find the other COFFEE JAR of buttons that was my grandmothers, dating back from the first part of the 20th century. They are actually in an old glass Maxwell House jar from the 1950's. I have my maternal grandparents' wedding picture in the oval frame with beveled glass. My mother told me I could have it when she died. She also gave me my grandma's wedding band. I now have hers and my mother's.

I have always connected with older people and antique anything.

Younger generations don't yet appreciate the gifts from their ancestors. I hope they do someday - we have some cherished pieces that nobody wants....

I have some very special things from my parents and grandparents too, but I'm so afraid it might all end with me. None of my children seem very interested! But I figure I will label everything and they can decide after I'm gone!

What nice treasures from your Grandma and Mom. My Mom collected buttons, too and I have that.

Mom and I used to go antiquing each and every weekend. I have some of the antique furniture, too. That includes an upright piano that my Dad refinished and restored. labor intensive job, but it is beautiful.

Yes, do display those things. I have a large frame that I arranged a lot of my Mother Fancy Sunday Hankies, when it was a necessity to always have a hankie handy, it is very pretty and in one of the spare bedrooms. I also have my grandmother, and mother buttons, I should get them out and put then in that BR also.
