November already?

Thursday, November 01, 2018

Hello fellow Sparkers! Hope you are enjoying the fall season, it didn't feel like much of a pleasant summer here in Pennsylvania. It was either very wet or very warm and humid. It was definitely a tough summer season to be training for my 5th marathon that was in October. I made it to another finish line! Woohoo! I have said that it will be my last marathon. I am ready to focus on other running goals and other fun activities that get put on the back-burner during marathon training.

My running goals would be more about half-marathons and consistency in my running in general. I also, would like to do more strength training and maybe a yoga class again. I am currently concerning myself with my weight gain prevention for this holiday period that is coming along quickly. I need to keep reminding myself to stay focused and mindful of all that I am doing, especially when it comes to my health. I am hoping to prevent ANY weight gain and also add more variety in my fitness routine.

I am making myself a list of tips that I can use and number one is to say "No thank you". It is okay to say no to food that does not fit into my plan and it is okay to say no to activities that overwhelm and burden me in the end, rather then add peace and contentment to my life.

Would love to hear tips from others as well. We can do this!

Edited to add: I have decided that I am going to keep my ongoing list of short but sweet tips or successes for the day in the comment section. This is my bragging moment of what I did to enhance my health and fitness. The motivation and accountability will be good for me.

I once blogged on saying "No" politely but firmly to those who "seem to insist" we need to eat some gooey morsel we will live to regret later. …. One thing I did was to "practice" before the occasion. Look directly in the face to the one offering with a soft smile, but your eyes say "No" and mean it. … then I never stand there to discuss further or debate. Move on swiftly to a new topic … or politely walk away and mingle with someone else. … Other tips: As we are moving in to the Holiday season, I know temptations will be everywhere, but I track my foods in advance and do not make room for "extras." (like sugary stuff) … And I have my clothes laid out and ready for my exercise in the morning. And stick to it. .. emoticon
