Happy Monday

Monday, October 29, 2018

it was a beautiful day here in southern Texas..... sunny and 92.
Im doing good with my measuring my food and watching portions..
Im trying to find low carb meals that I like.... and want to eat..........

I have a question, does any know know why sugar free candy and chocolate has the same calorie count as regular candy or chocolate..
I looked for sugar free chocolate chips, thinking I could add a few to my meals and save calories but not have the added sugar... turns out they have the same calories...
I looked at the sugar free Worthers hard candy and its the same.....
how is that possible, they say candies are empty calories because of the sugar....I can't seem to understand why.... sugar sub. are calorie free... like Stevia, equal, sweet and low...splenda..
so ....Im perplexed.... emoticon

Kitt, I asked my Dr. this question a long time ago and he gave me this answer too-fats to replace sugar to add flavor. He told me that as long as I don't have a sugar issue, to choose sugar over fat-free or low fat. Amazing, isn't it?

Everybody is right: to add flavor they raise the fats. Same with cookies. Now, are you cutting carbs or calories? If you are just cutting carbs, it is OK to eat sugar free candies that are designed for diabetics, because the fat does not matter as much. If you are cutting calories, then avoid them.

Yup! Andrino nailed it. Sugar free candies hike up the fats, such as cocoa butter which are higher in calories.

And if you look @ items like fat free salad dressings, THEY have added salt and/or sugar to heighten the taste from the missing fats.
