Chapter 29, Day 94

I joined the local Y. I haven't gone to a gym in 30 years, because my philosophy centers around home exercise. With a recent change in health insurance, my co-pay is only $20 annual. Because my health and fitness regimen has been lackluster, I decided it is time to try something different, and with the Y being so affordable, the answer was pretty clear what the "different" might be. Besides, my friend has been encouraging me to join her there (rather periodically nagging me). So I did.
Yesterday morning, first step, find my combination lock I own, for the locker. Really? It's been 30 years, and I seem to never remember where I put something. But there it was. Right where I remembered putting it. Remarkably, the combination for it was right there waiting, too. Go figure. LOL.
Ironically, friend couldn't join me. She broke a toe on Friday. Seriously? This wasn't how it was supposed to be. LIfe. It was pouring down rain, damp and windy. That was motivation enough.
I hate cold and rainy. I set out for the Y to do the indoor track. Boring and 20 minutes lost in round trip travel time. At least there were windows along the oval track so I could enjoy the Fall colors of the trees. The track surface was smooth and graded differently. It is safe both in environment and surface (no vehicle traffic and no uneven sidewalk cracks or street curbs). My fitbit measured an additional 100 calories compared with my walking in our neighborhood. If I can do this 4x weekly, over a course of a year that's equivalent to 10# of body weight. Yes, I like that statistic most of all. Another plus: variety, because of all of the equip and classes.
Over the course of this week my only goal is NRE: no random eating. I have yet to manage 1 day of that. Sorta tells the whole story. I don't like this statistic. Time to change it. Snacking has kept me from my weight loss success. That's dumb, but it is every bit true. Change is required. If not now, when?
Enjoyed seeing some pics of the two boys and their families carving pumpkins together. Warms my heart that they are close and spend time making these precious memories with Arden and Alexandra.
Another day of opportunity for NRE
Still the weekend....client work is static.
I have another option today to avoid walking in the rain: the Y
Have an awesome day!
