I Choose Happiness

Thursday, October 25, 2018

I wrote this on my LALO team and decided it belonged here too.

****
Bone density scan was yesterday. That team was warm, friendly and nice and seemed genuinely glad to see me. So unlike my primary NP. Anyway, halfway through the scan all the lights blipped out for 15 seconds, then the generator kicked on. Unfortunately, bone scan machines are not hooked to generators as they are not "life and death". So, after waiting around 15 minutes we rescheduled for next Tuesday.

My car was parked beside the generator room. Thought it was going to put my ears out before I got in the car. Really grateful the clinic is so well equipped and that the more urgent people were able to continue with their appointments. A gentleman in his 80s sat next to me and talked on his phone the whole time we waited. He had cancer and he was scared. Praying he got excellent treatment and advice to help him cope.

The good news is that while in the city, I visited my son before he went to work, hung out at his house till DIL and kids got home and then visited them for a couple hours too.

I had an adventure, had time to read on my book, and spent time to be with people I love. It was a nice day.

You really had an adventure. And a great attitude to cope with the rescheduling of your appointment!!!

I was at San Jose Kaiser Hospital for an x-ray when a big earthquake it. I was SO impressed with how the nurses and staff responded. The generator kicked on, but there were some injuries and immediate danger (patients falling in the shower on top of nursing aides; doctors and nurses in the middle of delicate surgeries when the earthquake knocked them over ...) And of course they had the opportunity to discover what DIDN'T work. Plus new lots of traumas arriving from auto wrecks, falls, and heart attacks.
