Constance here, in Berkeley, CA.... Just returned from a little Birthday trip to Santa Cruz,
a nearby Beach town.
Although I Weighed before going, my weight was Disqualified because it had been on indoor-outdoor carpet... Starting a Week's Vacation without an Accepted Weight was Upsetting!!!
I'd just buy another Scale!!! #1) Weight Gurus, #2) Fitbit's Aria 1, #3) Beurer...
Each was Bought & Returned, as they (or their Apps) FAILED to work sufficiently for submitting a DietBet Weight... Ugh!!! This was Unbelievable!! I was almost tempted to Give Up & Withdraw... But I Need This!!!
Finally, I came away from Bed, Bath, & Beyond with the last Display Model of a HoMedics Scale that WORKED for getting the Required Photo!!! I like the Analog Dial, as well as the Digital Read-Out!!!
*Most of our Room was Carpeted, & the part with Tile was Extremely Tiny, so I took my New Scale over the Santa Cruz 24Hr Fitness... It was either that or try taking photos in the Parking Lot, or on the Sidewalk!! LOL!!!
While at the 24Hr Fitness, I met an older lady who'd just been Swimming... She confided that she'd be 92 on Monday!!! An Amazing Example of what Life can look like, if one takes care of one's self!!!
My Mum was with me on my trip. While she needs a Cane these days, she's also doing extremely well for her age... 90!!!
Anyway, I'm Hopefull about this DietBet... I wasn't Heavy until my Mid 40s, when I went thru Menopause early, & took on a Sedentary job, following the Break-up of a relationship. I'm 5'8" & Normal for me was ~145lbs -155lbs... Until it shot up to 220lbs.
At age 50, I lost 70lbs & managed to stay under 200lbs for 6 years.
Unfortunately, it eventually All Came Back, PLUS 40lbs!!!
I'd Sworn This Wouldn't Happen to me!!!
Alas, Statistics say ~90% of people who lose significant amounts of weight,
re-gain the weight within ~5 years. I guess I got cocky, having passed the 5 year mark.
Anyway, I know that "Without Continued Vigilance, I'm in Trouble!!!"
Lexi & Syd, my 2 DietBet Hosts, are Such INSPIRATIONS!!!
Hope I'll make a few Friends in my DietBets!!!
I explain to people that I use Sparkpeople for Tracking my Food & FitBit for Tracking my Steps.
(* I'm in StepBet to be Sure I actually take those Steps!!! LOL!!!)
My little Walking Buddy is Tina the White Terrier.
Unfortunately, at 13, she's no longer able to go on Long Walks.
