Taking Time to Savor Progress

For those of you who know me, you're aware that the last three years have been a huge health challenge for me. A little over a year ago, I was cleared to begin doing Silver Sneakers on land not water. At this point in time, I could lift my feet off the ground but just barely. Flash forward about 14 fitness level has improved greatly despite falling last January and breaking the L3 vertebrae and damaging a tendon in my right shoulder.

How did I do it? I just kept putting one foot in front of the other. It was hard, frustrating and sometimes just plain made me mad. There were times when I cried and wanted to quit but...I didn't. I did (and still do) home PT exercises, walking and Silver Sneakers twice per week. Today, the instructor looked at me when we were doing several exercises and said "Wow, Cyndi! Do realize how much progress you've made? You are really doing an awesome job!"

She was right and I've been so busy pushing forward that I didn't take the time to stop and savor the good feeling that my progress has created. Today, I did.
