Where Does My Joy Come From... 10/17/18

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

...... I rid the living room of the world's biggest spider last night. It barked and growled at me, and had plans to eat me and the poodle alive. I am a survivor. The poodle snored through all of it. But then again, she is 15. Seniors cannot be bothered with hand to hand combat.

.... a friend of mine sent me a link for a beautiful lace shawl yesterday. I bought it and will join in a KnitALong on Ravelry with her. I can't wait to see how I do. This will be an adventure. It shouldn't be too hard to find a nice yarn to use. I have so many that are waiting to be turned into something fabulous. Stay tuned.

....Today is my day off. I usually work 4 days a week as a receptionist at a chaotically busy veterinary practice. Since we had another mass exit of staff, we have been understaffed all through summer. I had offered to work 5 days a week until we get more staff hired and trained. And my boss knows I don't care at all which shifts she puts me on. I see my name on the schedule, I come in. So I would end up working 6 days in a row at times with one day off in between. It was good money indeed. She just told us yesterday, that we will get another full time and one part time receptionist. So she and I can go back to our 4 days a week. How nice it will be to have 3 days off per week again. Sanity, how I missed thee.

My goodness, is your office an unpleasant place to work generally? I know you've been there years, but jeepers, "another mass exodus"??

I love it when you share your JOY!!

    emoticon on killing that MONSTER!!

emoticon enjoy your new knitting project!! I just pulled out about 70 rows of a lace shawl because my counting deficiency left the pattern completely skewed.... I started a simple basket weave blanket in its stead, and we'll see if I dare to try that lace pattern again when the blanket is finished!

And I hope those new folks work out and you find some relief in your schedule again!! emoticon

Wow that has been quite a while since you have been battling the employee shortage. I am glad that maybe finally you will have some relief in getting back to normal hours for you again. I am interested in the lace shawl you mentioned. What does it look like or is there somewhere you might send me to look at it, cause I just might want to try my hand at one too!. I've wanted a winter project to keep my hands busy (not my mouth) and that might be something right up my alley. It's been a long while since I've done a knitting project and I mean a long long time.

I need a shawl when we go out to weddings and such places and this just maybe what I am looking for. Let me know if you get a chance or blog about it ok?

It is very nice that you have such a flexible sch so you can work extra days to help the boss vet practice. It will be nice for you to get back to your old sch and have 3 days off.
