Chapter 29, Day 80

New sneaker felt good on the foot for a long walk. By nightfall, I could feel some soreness again on the top of the foot. It hurts this morning when I'm walking in the house, it probably won't do very well on my walk today.
Back to tracking foods again. It's a very effective tool for me in managing my daily food consumption. Many complain about the time it takes; for me, it is a good investment of time. I make it easier by saving the usual things I eat either in favorites or in groupings. I copy and paste from other days meals, too, when I can.
I managed yesterday's food event effectively. I had one spoonful of cake, but that was it, as I watched others take seconds. Had fun visiting with family and watching the children play with one another. Birthday boy Henry, had a good day and seemed to enjoy himself. I babysat the grands last night.....it was very sweet to watch them play together, even though there is 6 years between them. Alexandra was so vocally happy and smiley when we walked up her driveway. Just one, she obviously knows her home, and it is a happy space for her. This is the second time I saw her do that and none of my kids or the other grands ever did that. Kudos to her parents. My mom was a homebody.....maybe she has a little of her great grandma in her.
Taking my friend out to lunch near Lake Ontario today. She's facing a major surgery in 2 weeks and will have a long recovery period and be housebound. We know an old favorite family restaurant that makes the best soup and actually skims all the fat off the broth as a step in their process. It is so nice to have a restaurant to go to where you can order a guilt free soup. And the owner owns a farm, so he brings in whatever he has in season and throws it in the soup, so it is always different and a surprise. Maybe my grandson will be able to visit us late afternoon/early evening.
Still the weekend.....hurray!
Looking forward to a country drive with friend. We'll probably stop off at a few roadside farm stands and buy some of the local harvest. We both enjoy doing that.
Stay the course!
Have an awesome day!
