The world championships of long course Triathlon is under way, and in fact, the first pro woman is already out of the water, Lucy Charles of the UK took down the course record for the 2.4 mile swim. Josh Amberger of Australia came out of the water first for the pro men, and the first men are already out on the bike as Lucy goes through her transition.
I've been streaming since they started coverage with body marking and interviews around 9:30 this morning my time. They took a break between that and the race start, and during that break I dashed out on my grocery run. I have enjoyed the live streaming of this event for several years now, and the technology just keeps getting better.
This year it's on FaceBook live, and that's one that I have learned how to cast on to my big Smart TV screen. This is their 40th anniversary of the race (2.4 mile ocean swim, 112 mile bike ride across the lava fields (on the road of course), and then a full 26.2 mile marathon. They've been streaming interviews and retrospectives all week long, just like the Super Bowl for football fans.
When the race started, as is my practice, I hopped up on Ariel the siren treadmill, so I'd be moving while the swimmers churned through the first few minutes. We are now about an hour into the race, and there is a looooong way to go. We shall see how it shakes out, but I can't stop grinning. Celebration day is here.
Someday... someday... I want to go there... as a spectator, mind you. Hopefully when someone I know is racing!
As for the healthy lifestyle journey? Well, those of you who know me know that this kind of thing energizes me for that effort.
* Healthy breakfast, morning snack, and lunch on board.
* Walk in the chilly sunny morning (yay, the rain from yesterday gone, snow possibility for tomorrow not yet here), loving the changing of the colors on the trees.
* Dropped a load of stuff at the Goodwill that really tugged at my memory strings... things from my son's transition from boy to man... his tae kwon do gear, among other things.
* Healthy wins at the grocery store, the larder is prepped for a healthy training table for the week.
Hope that my Spark buds are finding in their own journeys events that energize their own efforts for keeping the motivation alive, this one and only Saturday, October 13, 2018 we'll ever get. Because whatever YOUR why, whatever YOUR joy, YOU are worthy of nurturing yourself to the best health, mind, soul, and body!
