#36. Book Group
Wednesday, October 10, 2018
There's a book group meeting tomorrow morning at 10:30, and I have 90 pages yet to read of the book, Station Eleven, by a Canadian author, Emily St. John Mandel.
It is an easy book to read -- but on a topic I would never choose on my own: the end of civilization as we know it after a deadly flu pandemic. The story moves back and forth in time, depicting life before and after the pandemic.
One of my all-time favorite authors is Canadian: Mary Lawson.
She has written three novels and I have read them all, starting with Crow Lake. I highly recommend it. I had the pleasure of meeting her at a talk she gave in London when I lived there with my DH for a year in 2008.
Now on to finish Station Eleven so I can participate in the discussion tomorrow.
