My lol moment with my brother

Tuesday, October 09, 2018

My brother is one who has teased me something awful all his life. Of my two brothers he’s only three years younger than me. He drove me crazy growing up but I love both my brothers so much. I cherish the moments we share together especially now that we live in three different states. My youngest brother devoted his life to caring for our Dad who passed away after living with Alzheimer’s for about eight years. It’s wonderful seeing him enjoying his life now.
Back to brother #1. He’s my travel buddy. He makes all these trips possible. While he doesn’t have a clue what all my health issues do to me, he is a quadruple bypass surgery survivor.
Anyway we were at the beach and I was going on the beach for a walk so I asked him to put sunscreen on my neck and upper part of my back. Well, with my 70 pound weight loss I have the dreaded batwing upper arms. I had been working on that with my limited upper body workout at the gym. So he’s always called that area my mud flaps. So he said he’d put sunscreen on my mud flaps. When he did he said “wow, you’re mud flaps are firming up”. Needless to say that made my day. He actually noticed my hard work, lol.
I just had to share my laugh. Compliments come in all sorts of strange ways. I’m taking that one for the books, lol.
What has been your strangest or most offhand compliments on your journey? I’d love to hear your stories.

I don't have one. A friend of mine was showing her grandchildren pictures from her childhood and they asked her when she started living in color because the pictures were black and white.

I think of those flaps on tractor trailers when I think of mud flaps. Nothing like sagging arm muscles and skin.

That's a hoot! Congrats on firmer mud flaps!

The only thing that comes to mind was a pal offering up her bigger clothes to me with the comment that they might fit (like my butt was still too big for them). My guy pal who witnessed it had a fit. He said that I was too small to fit into her clothes. She was far larger than me at the time. I never let her comments bother me, but more than one guy pal wanted to take up for me. Nice to have peeps in your corner.

Have to love that offhand remark from your brother.

I think one of the comments that caught me off guard many years ago was when I cut off my long hair-down almost to my waist-and my younger son took one look at me (he was probably 4 or so) and asked if I was still a mommy since my hair was nearly as short as his dads!!! This wasn't a weight loss comment but it was one of the funniest I have ever gotten personally.

I love your story! I think mine would be a day a fellow golfer on one of our tournament days noticed I had lost weight. He asked how much I had lost and I remarked 20 lbs. He immediately went out where all the golfers had gathered to wait until our time to start. He shouted for all to hear that I had lost 20 lbs and every few weeks now someone will ask about my weight. emoticon
