What Have I Gotten Myself Into

When I decided to sign up for a kickboxing club, I thought "cardio" kickboxing, like I did back in college. But what I actually wound up signing up for was MMA kickboxing!
What's the difference?
Well, quite a bit, actually. For one, cardio kickboxing actually does not require gloves. You can join a cardio kickboxing class at your local gym at anytime, and it is basically a high intensity workout that is a lot of fun. You just throw a lot of punches in the air and do a lot of kicks to the beat of the music.
But with MMA kickboxing, you get a bit more than you bargain for. With it, you have to wear gloves, as there is a bit of "sparring" that goes on. Yes, sparring. You have a partner that you get to take out your daily frustrations on (hopefully not too hard, as I am new to this one). And if you had not already figured out, MMA does mean "mixed martial arts". It is more high intensity and does require more than the cardio kickboxing. Plus, it does require more commitment than the cardio kickboxing does. So, I'm looking forward to what is in store for me with this one.
I just didn't realize what type I had signed up for!
