Good morning! We had a lovely long weekend. The weather was perfect for what we wanted to do. Saturday was cold and gloomy. Perfect for having a lazy day! We Jon tackled some recording and music editing projects. I spent time playing a computer game and snuggling our sweet kitties. Saturday night we also had some fun in the form of a game night. We played the new Mario Party. It is a blast. Sunday we had a lovely breakfast of pumpkin pancakes and made sure to take ourselves to the gym mid morning. Left overs for lunch. Cottage pie. DInner was out at a restaurant for a friend's birthday. I had a superfoods wrap with french fries. Monday was a dedicated lazy day. We had zero intention of getting out of our jammies. I did find myself sitting in front of a screen a lot and I have come to realize that it really affects my mood. Nearly depressing me, even I am doing something enjoyable like watching movies or playing games. At one point in the afternoon I recognized this shift in my attitude so I made myself go outside. I didn't get out of my jammies, I simply wrapped myself in a bright quilt (Hunting season here in Maine) and sunned myself on the back porch. I pulled the last 7 squash from the garden and just wandered the property (we have 15 acres). I was out for about a half and hour and it did wonderful things for my mood! Dinner last night was tofu bahn mi. One of our all time favorites that we simply hadn't had in a while. It was AMAZING. Yum. Then we settled in for our night before the work week routine. I used to get a Sunday night, pre-work week anxiety. It would completely work me up and I'd over think and then not be able to sleep. Starting the work week overtired is just setting yourself up!! I've settled into my new job, so I have fewer worries, but we have maintained this routine because it still helps. After dinner we prep clothes and lay out things we need for the next day. Taking time to write notes for ourselves if needed. Then we settle down and actually watch a movie together. No phones or tablets. We leave social media out of the evening. It is such a culprit for worry. It works well for me. On to today. We lounged in bed for an extra minute or two this morning with a particularly snuggly Fret-girl. Then got up to tackle a relatively easy day. We have teacher inservice. Kiddos get a four day weekend! We wanted to make our own sushi tonight since we actually have a very open schedule for week nights so I threw some rice into the rice cooker and it will be done before we leave. We can have a little slower start today because we don't have to leave to prepare for the day as early as when we have students. My department will work together most of the day today. We don't get to work together as often as we would like so we will be getting subway and continue our work during the lunch. I'm not sure if I will get a sandwich or a salad yet. I'll see what the scale says this morning. We did do a fair bit of snacking and had really wonderful meals so...I can actually probably predict the salad! It sound like it is a rainy fall day out there, but it is too dark to see yet. Jon is going to join me at the middle school at the end of the day so we can use the gym to work out. I've been enjoying our gym time together. I am excited for breakfast. I am going to make oatmeal with peanut butter and dates. One of my favorites.
