When they say you never forget how to ride a bike....

I have heard that saying a lot. It has been 18 years and about 80 pounds ago since I tackled riding a bike.
My daughters enjoy theirs and since we are close to a few state parks with nice trails that wouldn't be too hard, I thought I would take up biking. I looked up several and decided I wanted a cruiser style with a nice wide seat. My husband bought one for me as an early birthday present. I was so excited and it is a nice bike.
Ok, I got on it yesterday. I rode down my driveway a little wobbly, but I got the hang of it. I guess it is true you don't forget how, so I went down the lane for a bit and rode back (about a quarter mile) trying not to embarrass myself in front of my kids. I know I didn't go very far, but I really understood how out of shape I was and man I could feel it in my legs. I took a break and did the same loop again. After the third pass with a break, I had to stop. I was really huffing and puffing (not to mention sweating).
My goal is to ride the whole lane, even with the hill and not be huffing and puffing or having to take a break. I have got some time before the dead of winter, so I will be practicing and hopefully soon, tackling a trail.
Wish me luck...……….
