Healthy Eating and PMS

I don't know about you guys, but nothing challenges my healthy eating pattern like a big dose of old ugly pms. I can be doing fantastic, and wham! Here it comes. And it has significantly gotten worse and way more ugly, the closer I get to menopause.
COME ON MENOPAUSE!!!
I used to really beat myself up over that. The feeling of lack of control, the grumpiness, the misery, and then falling off my "diet" at the same time. I don't know what changed exactly, but it definitely was influenced with how I changed when I started working on accepting myself!!
So yeah. I ate more "unhealthy" carbs yesterday than I have in a while. But I also ate a big salad and bowl of veggie soup yesterday. So, balance then, right? (AND stayed within my calorie range) And I ate a chocolate chip cookie this morning, but I also ate a green smoothie for breakfast, and have my veggie soup for lunch. Balance continues!! Woo hoo!
What I am realizing is, it's still just a choice. I can be miserable and craving that chocolate, or I can have a small piece and accept that it's ok to do that occasionally. I think that today I will choose acceptance and not being mean to myself for being a human!
