They shoot horses...don't they? LOL

Monday, October 01, 2018

Well, it seems I’m collecting medical conditions.

Not only do I have dystonia and arthritis……. I now have………………drum roll……….osteoporosis!!!

To be confirmed by a rheumatologist (appt being arranged as I write) and a bone density scan (also being organised).

I’m already on a calcium dosage and Alendronic Acid – supposedly to protect against this, but the dosage may be increased and/or I may have 6 monthly or annual injections.

I said I was also now experiencing upper back pain and jaw pain leading to headaches, she said that the fractures evident in my pelvis and lower back could also be present higher up the spine (not taken account of in the CT scans taken) causing this pain.

Gotta be very careful now not to fall over!!

Dr Beata said to get my jaw X-rayed A.S.A.P. As I have my six monthly check up arranged in November I phoned and they’re accommodated me by fitting me in for one then!

Plus it seems that all the meds I’m on now are collectively causing my annoying, uncomfortable, occasional constipation so she suggested a herbal laxative for as and when!
Oh deep joy!!!

I dread to think how much worse it could be had I not been eating healthily, exercising etc.............don't want to dwell on that.

Once I have had the various investigations to quantify the damage I'll be straight on the blower (phone) to make an appt with the adorable resident PT. Richard, for exercise do's and don't's .. He's been such an honest advisor to date and I have every faith in him.

Onward and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,upward..
........hopefully

i don't shoot horses i just try to keep them healthy. My girl Montana is the third horse i ever had in my life. she has had several problems this year and we just follow the Dr. orders.

sounds like you have a good plan and the most important thing is to follow the Dr.orders and the adorable Richard on what you can do for therapy.

    hugs and prayers for you.

So sorry to hear this - I had a bone scan (10 years ago?) & had really solid bones then. Good thing, too, since I fall a lot.

With all your weight-bearing exercises, I’m surprised that you would get osteoporosis. Getting older sure isn’t fun, is it? I’m sure you will deal with this with the same grace you show with the dystonia.
    Hugs, Gail

The great thing about you, Caz, is that you don't let the grass grow. I'm sure you'll find the best help/treatment you can and won't give up till you get it. Your positive attitude is admirable. Very best of luck to you - will be thinking of you.

Oh Caz...............You just have to remember that you are in optimum health in most other areas. If you weren't, it could be much more damaging. All we can do is follow the Dr's suggestions and hope for the best. You are also wise to check on which exercises are safe to do with your PT. I have to do the same thing next Tuesday when I see my spinal surgeon. I want a list of what will NOT undo the surgery.

In the meantime...............you have love and hugs and prayers from all of us for the best treatments possible. We LOVE you.

I was diagnosed with osteoporosis last November. I guess that was the reason I had all the rib fractures and the vertabrae fracture. I have to take a pill once a week. I will have another bone density test done in November to see if it got any better or worse. The trials of getting older. emoticon

Glad we aren't horses. I would have been put out to pasture long ago and probably shot by now and sent to the glue factory.

As we collect health issues, there's nothing more to say than 'onward and upward' as long as we can and hoping for the best medicines ever to be discovered SOON. Best wishes! emoticon

Mama used to say when it rains it pours. Sure hope they find causes for sure and define a treatment plan or how to do what. I hope your pharmacist knows everything and helps you in making sure med A is ok with med B, C, and D. That was the trouble for my daughter as she has lots going on and takes different meds from different specialists and they don’t always do this. Praying 🙏 for you Caz.
