Look it Up, Check it Out, Make A Plan - Good for me!

The other day I discovered that my 'background' mind was in the groove with my foreground, conscious intents and plans.

I was invited to lunch at a favorite Asian-food restaurant and had already thought about my two favorite foods there, Tuna Roll Sushi or Volcano Shrimp. 'Oh, that will be okay', was my first thought, with all my usual link of emotions and 'treats' to food.

THEN, I thought, 'Hmmm, I'd better actually check it out. What ARE the calories and carbs in those two foods??' In the end, they had more carbs than I wanted to eat right now as I'm beginning my program. And it came to me to study the menu before I went, so I could make another, better choice for me. Make a plan!

Then it hit me that I had 'unconsciously' made a better choice for myself. I had stopped. I paused. I didn't move ahead with my usual 'eating out is atreat so I don't have to think about it" mentality. I felt like this was a big breakthrough. A disconnect from an old, very old, pattern and a link-up with a new pattern. I felt proud and really good about that moment.
