New nutrition goals!

So I know many people are desperately trying to drop the number of calories they eat in a day. I wish that were the way I could do this but sadly several years of living in calorie deficit my body is holding on to every single calorie I do eat. Yesterday I went to see a nutritionist (first time ever for myself) and I went in worrying that I was going to be told to go on some weird eating plan (low fat, no carbs, whatever the trend of the day is) but I was so pleasantly surprised! My issue is that for at least 2 years now I've barely been able to force myself to eat 2 meals a day and many days I only get one of any kind. My body is living in such an extreme calorie deficit most days that every single bite I eat gets stored as fat to keep myself from hitting coma! I do need to eat 3 meals a day (if small get in between 1 and 2 balanced snacks as well) and eat the right proportions of things. High calorie foods (natural foods by the way not over processed) are not the enemy! At least not for me. Full fat milk, yogurt, cheese, these are good for the brain and the body. Since my hubby is already having to change his eating due to early stages of diabetes, we had already begun the process. More fresh fruit, more fresh veggies, more of the things I make from scratch - these were now part of our daily lives. My issue still existed - I couldn't convince myself to eat breakfast and half of the time not even lunch either. I have been given an assignment for the next week - eat 3 meals a day 6 days out of the week. I get a cheat day on Sunday because I do not eat before Mass. I will still have to eat 2 meals on Sunday but that is better than before. Once I get that down I have an assignment to make sure I'm getting the right proportions of the foods I need with each of those meals.

Sometimes, even when you know what you are supposed to be doing, having a professional verify what YOU thought and knew all along is very validating! I started off my time well last night with a fully filled meal! Protein, fuel, and veggies! Way to go me! This morning I started off with a fully packed homemade smoothie.

Exactly one month from today I turn 47. I cannot think of a better reason to start working on this body of mine. I have 2 daughters, a hubby, and my 91 year-old daddy to be here for as long as I possibly can!
