Well, I was asked to lead the Bible study tomorrow morning, so I studied up on it while breakfasting. Love it!
Then I scooped out Rosie's kitty litter.
Then I swept down the basement stairs - what a mess! Cat hair and litter and dust!
Then I got online to start studying up on the majas (accent on second syllable, fricative j) which is the local name for the paca, a large rodent akin to the guinea pig. I found this video which you may find quite interesting:
I find it helpful to look at not only still photos but also videos to get an idea of the animal's movements. I watched tons of animal documentaries as a youth (who remembers Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom?)
And I love learning new things - like, I didn't know the beasty could swim underwater! Just look at THIS video!
In my search, I also learned it's related to the black agouti
and the green achouchy (which is smaller and has more of a tail than its cousins)
These two look more squirrely than the large paca.
Anyway, I plan to focus on the majas today. Eventually, I will have to do an inventory of what all I have in stock. I haven't participated in any art shows since 2015, although I do get calls for special orders from regular customers (mainly for dogs, but some like to collect the more exotic animals too.)
Here's a sample from 2013.
Anyway, after "arting" I plan to go out for lunch with my friend Carol. We've been friends since 9th grade, age 14 - so that's 51 years of friendship!
After that, I will probably do some more purging of my workroom, which is where I stow works-in-progress. ANd I might paint some of the things that have dried, if I have the inclination.
