Read an interesting article today answering the question "Can you exercise too much". Here are some interesting points from the article. The data comes from several doctors and universities using 661,000 adults, most of them middle aged.
1.People who do not exercise at all are at highest risk of early death.
2. Doctors say 30 minutes every other day will improve your health.
3. Greatest benefits were seen among those who tripled the recommended level of exercise to 450 minutes per week (about 60 minutes a day). These were people getting exercise simply walking. This group were 39 percent less likely to die prematurely than people who never exercised.
4. After 450 minutes weekly the benefits of exercise plateau but never decline.
5. Ten times the recommended amount was shown both to be not dangerous, and not especially beneficial (1500 minutes per week, 3.5 hours per day)
