A Day "Off"
Wednesday, September 19, 2018
I'm taking today as a personal day off from school. This morning I took my son to the airport and bade him good-bye. He was with me since early April, and looked after the cat, the house, and the mail while I was in Peru. We had some nice times together, pleasant after not seeing each other for some 4 years. But he was itching to return to California...and I'm glad to have my house to myself again.
Here he is in Hawaii.
So, it's me and Rosie now. I know she will miss him. He played with her and spoiled her with rotisserie chicken and tuna from the can.
Now, I dropped him off early enough, that I COULD have gone to work. But I am still facing the morass (dictionary.com's 4th definition: any confusing or troublesome situation, especially one from which it is difficult to free oneself; entanglement.) of forms and such for Levi's visa. I THOUGHT we sent in the financial stuff - I remember distinctly bringing in the statement from my workplace about my wages, and the tax returns from last year. So why are they asking for these?
Anyway, I am going to see if the guy who's been helping me can lend another hand.
Then I have some options. Shall I tidy up the room my son has occupied the past months? Or shall I work on the clay some more? My next clay project is majas (accent second syllable), which is the local name for the paca, a large rodent, which I have eaten, in Peru. (It's meatier for sure than cuy - aka guinea pig!)
I hope to have a productive day.
Oh, and although I didn't go in to work, I still got plenty of walking at the airport, from the parking lot to the terminal!
