One week, down a few pounds

I'm preplexed. Is it possible to lose up to 5 lbs just by stop eating rice??
I've packed ham sandwiches instead of rice or pasta for a week for lunches, and I'm down 5 lbs.
Even if the scale is off, for sure I've lost 4 lbs.
Not to jinx it, but I'm having rice for lunch today, it's Sunday after all. I'm giving myself a break. But I don't pile up the rice like I used to. I love progress!
