Hello my sparklies!
FINALLY...things are slowly picking up at our little consignment gallery. I've had two pretty good days for sales last week and I hope that trend continues.
You remember this fabulously unique pub set...it sold two days after it came in and I'm SO happy for the owner and ourselves of course!
I just love this set...it has an inlaid bamboo tabletop that makes it so lovely! I was lucky that it sold in its entirety...the table with the two swivel bar stools and then the other 3 separate barstools for the bar. The couple that purchased the set just moved to FL from Texas and were so excited to get something so unique. They would have paid THREE times the amount if they would have bought the set retail.
There was a good story about this set. A customer spotted it the day it came into the gallery and expressed great interest. She said that she was setting up a drum room and the shape of the stool into fit within the decor beautifully!
I researched the set and told her a price. A VERY good price I must say considering the price of a similar table by the same manufacturer was $975 for the table alone.
The customer came back to our gallery the next day when the hubs was there and he said she had him turn the table and the stools upside down so she could scrutinize the labels for the manufacturer then sat down and researched everything for close to a half hour and ultimately told him she would be back later. Never heard from her again.
This taught me a valuable lesson. I will now remove all stickers from items so that customers can't come in find unique things that they would have never known of and then go out and buy them on-line.
Everyone wants a bargain...but seriously....don't put shopkeepers out to have them lug furniture around to show you how to undermine their sale because you are a cheapster!
This is truly a pet peeve of mine. If I would have been there I would have refused to turn this heavy table and awkward stools upside down so I could lose a sale...it's SO annoying.
All I can say...is people have no couth these days. If you see something you like in a store don't insult the shopkeeper with your audacity...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
These lovely vintage Bergere chairs came in yesterday. They are in PERFECT condition and so comfortable! I also love the crushed velvet and color. In my research, I see a similar pair for $1,500 on Charish...I may list them on that site.
Time to fly....lots of things to do..stay sparky my friends!
