My friend has gone to an annual visit with her sisters, leaving her husband at home with a sore back from falling off the ladder.
So, being a good friend, I invited her husband to join us for dinner tonight.
And he accepted.
(Now, of course, I don't eat dinner at night. I usually eat around 3 or 3:30.)
I told him it is very casual -- I am making split pea soup with grilled cheese sandwiches.
And, because I wanted to have something a little special for my guest, I said there would be apple pie from a local farm market for dessert.
I had to get vanilla ice cream to go along with that pie - right?
NONE of this food fits into my food plan these days.
Ordinarily, I would just let the food plan slip, and enjoy the dinner along with my husband and our friend.
HOWEVER, my scale is saying nice things to me these days, and I do not want to change that.
AND I am blogging every day to KEEP ME ON TRACK for the next 50 some odd days.
So, this blog is serving as the little angel sitting on one shoulder -- who will defeat the devil on the other shoulder -- the one who usually wins out in a situation like this.
I will serve the food to the men. I will eat what I am supposed to eat. And that will NOT include ANY apple pie a la mode.
I will do that today.
In 60 days, when I have achieved my goal, I can buy another apple pie and have a piece then.
In the meantime, I will eat this nice, ripe, juicy peach I bought for myself.
