Shattered Glass

Monday, September 10, 2018

I literally mean shattered glass every where.
On Saturday we woke up to our back door which is mostly glass completely shattered. We looked for any signs of rocks, pebbles or anyone trying to get in but none was found. So the whole glass was shattered and pieces were falling - we proceeded to finish breaking the glass.
I had a meeting downtown with the Diocese and I had to leave my poor defenseless (Lol) husband to deal with the situation. After cleaning up the mess he went to Lowe's to get someone but the answer is always the same. They will call you during the week to schedule to come and replace the door!!! What a week and I will be home alone because my DH left today on work related travels. So we covered it up the best we could - our backyard is fenced in and we have a gate but again I will be HOME ALONE with a broken door.
So I called Lowe's this morning to put in an emergency request and here it is 4pm and no one has called. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
So if i am missing in action it might be due to Alien abduction through an open door.
I am trying to make light of this because there is nothing I can do but wait!!!
So my door is opened to all!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's so frustrating to get help today, I hope you can get someone sooner or board up the door. Please stay safe. I'd tell you to give me a call if there's a problem, but it would take me too long to get to Florida.

It is getting hard to find service of any kind for small jobs. More money in the larger new jobs than helping a homeowner with small requests. Wish I knew of a solution as we await to get a small repair to our roof. Hope you get the door fixed soon!

That's a weird event. Like others have said - can you board it up with plywood or something until you can get someone out there? Can you find a handyman in your area that can come sooner? Stay safe.

Oh dear! How unusual and very scary! Can you nail plywood over the opening?
Years ago, we had our front door broken in and Home Depot came out the very next day to install a new one.

Now we are dealing with Lowe's for 2 new storm doors. They "need" to come out to measure first and last Monday said we'd get a call within 3 days. NOT! So on Thursday we called and was told the installer would call us that day. Nada.
Friday we called and were told the installer would call that night or Saturday morning; he had work in our area. Nope.
So after speaking with Lowe's again, he had to call us back as he "had a customer"!, but quickly mentioned our WINDOWS were scheduled for next Wednesday!! No call back.
We decided we were done dealing with Lowe's and on our way out the door to go up and cancel with the service desk when the installer magically appears in our driveway!
I pray you have better luck! (still no doors!)

Sometimes, it doesn't take much to hit those patio doors just right and they crack. I was using an extension cord for the weedwhacker and gave a flick of the cord to pull it to me. It snapped against the patio door and it cracked into that marble effect (love safety glass). The door was old so maybe it was brittle. It took a couple weeks to get someone out.

I'll keep an eye out for alien spaceships in your area.
