A few weeks ago, I purchased a new mattress set. They say mattress sets are supposed to last 7 to 10 years, but mine barely lasted 5. In other words, don't go cheap like I did.
So, this time, I decided to invest in a good mattress. I did research and went to a specialty store to purchase this one. It is a hybrid mattress, so it is a little different than I'm used to. The previous one was a little too firm, which might have been the problem in the first place. This one started out being a bit too soft, but now I'm getting used to it.
In other words...I'm finally getting the rest I need.
I had been fighting it the last few weeks, but I don't think it was the mattress, but where I had been sitting to work since the whole "yellow jacket" fiasco. My office had become a dumping ground and unusable. So, on Labor Day, I actually labored to get it into a "workable" order.
But I also received the help from my chiropractor. I walked in on Wednesday with a bit of soreness in my sciatica, and walked out pain free. That night, I slept like a baby! It was wonderful to finally start getting the rest I needed!
And then yesterday, after finally seeing the optician about the tension headaches from sitting in front of the laptop for hours on end (due to work), I found out that it was a significant change in my prescription that was causing them. So, I went to bed early last night, and even better night of rest! So, I'm feeling even better today!
It is rest that we need to get us through the day. And rest that helps our bodies function. If we don't get it, we will fail. Even when I was a caregiver, I learned that it is not selfish to take care of myself first, because if I didn't, I would not be able to care for the person I was caring for. I would fail them.
Remember, you are important!
