Funk - being real but not encouraging.

Tuesday, September 04, 2018

You can scroll past...you've been warned... I've been in a funk the last couple of weeks. Short backstory, I was 410 lbs, lost 100+, life happened, regained about 70, and have been in process of losing again with goal of 170. I have difficulty standing on scale still enough to get a reading. So I get a range of numbers instead of a single number. But I have been watching the range move into lower numbers approaching 300 and sometimes even slightly below. I was looking forward to doctor appointment to be able to try the hospital bar scale which helps get a more accurate weight. When I got there I discovered that their scale broke and they replaced it with a digital. So I had the same problem on their scale as on mine, but the range that scale showed was a spread of almost 50 points from 360 to 408. So of course they recorded the highest number and recorded 408. I'm furious, frustrated, exhausted, perplexed and... I know their scale isn't any more accurate than mine and technically I still have no idea what I weigh. But it seems like I gained 100 pounds overnight. I even started feeling heavier again. Last week was a week of rebellion. I have been low carb for years and there are a lot of foods that I just don't eat very often. Well, I ate most of them last week. My clothes were getting really lose and now they aren't anymore. I feel heavier, I feel like I gained 100 pounds back. It seems that all I've done to try to get healthy and lose weight have been useless. I'm tired of the whole process. Especially if the results aren't positive. My attitude is not my usual hopeful and positive self. I haven't wanted to be with myself, much less inflict others with my attitude. Ugh!

Please always feel like you can vent away. I remind myself it doesn't matter if I fall 100 times as long as I get up more than a 100 times. Just know we are cheering you on!

Oh, I hear you. Hope you get some encouragement coming your way to cheer you up! Don't know where you live and if any of their machines are near by but our local grocery stores all have a HIGI machine in them--they can give a weight which seems accurate and easy to do for larger folks. You sit on their seat (which is the scale) and on the bar to be weighed, or if you cannot reach the bar hanging in the air for a moment while being weighed. Walmart has a different version of this machine, not HIGI, but I don't have a Walmart near by so I'm not certain what "brand" their machine is--but I know Walmarts are nearly everywhere. If you want, higi.com has the list of places on their website you can go to get a real weight. The higi machine also tells you what percentage of your weight is water and lean tissue, vs. fat using a electronic device. I find that useful. It also gives the percentage of dehydration or hydration level--which is useful.
