Healthy Balance Class

So I've wanted to join some sort of weight loss class or meeting for some time now in order to further spur my weight loss. Weight Watchers was a bit too expensive for me, and I discovered through research that my HMO (Kaiser Permanente) has a weight loss program that is FREE. I mean, you can't get better than that, right? It's called Healthy Balance and it's a 16 week class that you can repeat if you want to. So I went to my first class tonight and it was wonderful. We first talked about setting goals (SMART goals, which you should know about if you've been on SP for any length of time) and then we talked about nutrition and making a healthy meal. I learned a lot, like the fact that my plate should be half full of non-starchy vegetables. I received a meal planning plate as part of the class that I plan to use this week. I also came home to the realization that I had no non-starchy veggies in my fridge except lettuce and tomatoes (I have frozen peas and corn), so I had to make due with a big salad with my portion-controlled pasta for tonight. I plan on going to the store to pick up veggies tomorrow. Finally, we did about 15 minutes of kick boxing to get the blood pumping. My goal for this week is to go to the gym twice for 30 minutes. I plan to go Wednesday (tomorrow) and Friday, as my Tuesday and Thursday are a little crammed with school and various appointments. I'm already looking forward to the next class, and I hope I continue to lose weight. I have lot 8.5 lbs. in the past 2-3 months, but I've plateaued, so I'm hoping the exercise and/or eating better will kick start it.
