Summer 5% challenge review
Sunday, August 26, 2018
I don't even know how many of these challenges I've done. And it blows my mind that another 5% challenge is already over. Especially when it seems we just started! But then, that's how I feel about summer as a whole.
This 5% challenge was a difficult one for me. I had hernia surgery which really restricted the types of exercise I could do. No lifting over 10lbs and no ab exercises. And frankly, just walking isn't cutting it anymore.
I've also realized this challenge that I'm grazing, a lot. Part of that is due to having an almost 4 year old who grazes pretty much all day. So because he does it, I find myself doing it (Not an excuse!) and not grazing on healthy options.
I also dealt with the passing of my grandfather at the end of the challenge. It is always difficult for me to eat well when travelling, and for the last few weeks of the challenge I felt like I was always leaving the house to do some sort of trip.
So with all these "challenges" I know that this next challenge I have to work on some things. Number one being the grazing. I need to listen to my stomach better! If I'm not hungry then I don't need to eat. And if that doesn't work and I still feel the need to eat, then I need to eat something healthy!
I'm also looking forward to October when I"m officially off my lifting restriction and can start lifting weights again. I want to dedicate myself to STICKING to the weight lifting routine I have and not falling off that wagon.
Another 5% challenge is starting in the fall, and I'm using the in between time to get my head right and really focus for this next challenge. I WILL make my 5% weight loss this challenge, one way or another.
If anyone reading this wants to join the fall 5% challenge community, I've included a link to the group down below. These challenges are great for motivation, accountability, and overall friendship and fun. I've come to look forward to these challenges, and if nothing else, it helps you get a spark streak just by logging in every day to track your fitness minutes!
