Day 73 of 100 Days of Gratitude

Thursday, August 23, 2018

Wow...am I behind in recording great days. Yesterday we got our first rain in a couple of months. We're in a high wildfire danger with fires on all sides of us. So I am grateful beyond words for the rain. And hope for more.

I started a short walk this a.m but it continued on to climbing a very steep mtn near my house. Then I took a wrong turn & ended up with a very long walk. My shoes were buried in mud. When I got home, I stepped onto a clump of grass to try to get it off...when a snake's tail whipped my leg. The snake was about 20" long...(I didn't measure it!)

I'm grateful it wasn't a rattlesnake which we had dozens of at our ranch where I grew up and which can be deadly.

It was an "exciting" ending to a long, strenuous hike in the Rocky Mtns. Whew!

Woweee!! Exciting for sure. It's been a hot and dry summer here in West Quebec also. It's only been in the last 4 weeks or so that we've gotten some rain.

Yikes, I would have fainted when the snake hit me! Funny (or good) it didn't happen till you got back home. What an interesting area you live in.
