It was a difficult choice I had to make today. I really, really like to meet my goals on Spark People especially when in a challenge such as our 5% Summer Challenge. Sometimes my time and commitment belongs to others.

Tuesday I have committed to volunteer at our local Food Bank. Today was a very busy day and we were one volunteer short. Instead of bagging 2 or 3 bags for each family I was bagging 3 to 6. At the end of our time I was Pooped!

In the afternoon I had a big chore I needed to get done at home. I knew I was going to be super tired after finishing digging weeds and cleaning up a flower area that had gotten really messy. We had wet weather for two weeks and it looked horrible. I felt today was the only day I had to get it done.

I knew if I chose to dig those weeds I would probably not have the time or energy to meet my goal of 10,000 steps.

Sometimes a person has to do what a person must do.

    I think you did really well. I live by the weather for my job and there are some days you have to sacrifice what you want to get done for what you need to get done. You did good and you'll start another streak/goal. Anyway, peace of mind should be yours ;-). emoticon

    It's true, a persons got to do what a persons got to do. Life is about the choices that we make.
    The steps can wait. Our mental health is sometimes our first priority

    Well, I'm going to be the odd ball out and say you went for the 10000 steps to keep your goal going. The weeds weren't going anywhere but you wouldn't be able to go back and make up the missed steps for the day. But either choice was fine because you'd still get your exercise in, so good job!!!

    I think you did your gardening. You may not have got your steps but you did get your exercise.
