Beginning of a New Routine and Discharging a Duty

Monday, August 13, 2018

I got up early, before sunrise, but not for a run today. Today it was picking Natalie up by 7am to get her to Union Academy in Bartow and then getting me to jury duty at the courthouse in Bartow by 8:05. Traffic was extremely congested. We spent 20+ minutes in line to drop Natalie off, but it all worked out.

The last 2 times I did jury duty, 1) federal in Tampa and 2) county in Bartow, I was extremely stressed. This time it was no problem. I was a little impatient in the traffic congestion, but I thought I'd get there on time and I did. Didn't stress too much. I rode the elevator several times to the courtroom on the 5th floor without panicking. Generally I could do everything expected of me including answering the questions. Whew. Maybe it is that I'm completely through menopause, but I think I'm a whole lot closer to sane than I was a couple years ago. Having a normal weight and feeling like a normal person are two separate but related issues!

I took my lunch and was glad I did. No problem eating right. Did have to sit quietly a lot. I got steps whenever I could, but a lot of sitting was required. I set twice for jury selection but was not selected. Not disappointed. Relieved.

Here's picture of both kids at Gwen's school orientation last week. Natalie went to that school last year:

Gwen first day of 2nd grade:

Love the attitude!

Natalie's first day of 6th grade:

It was early. She was kind of goofy for the pix, but I heard (her mom could pick her up today) the day went well and she's looking forward to tomorrow. I'll be taking her again tomorrow, and picking up both girls.

We will once again work out a new routine. Healthy eating will be part of that routine as will be sticking to my half marathon training plan and getting adequate exercise on non-run days, too.

Wishing you healthy routines to support your fitness goals!!

I can't believe "little Gwen" is already in second grade! I remember when her mom was pregnant with her. Where does the time go? LOL. The girls look like they are totally ready for the new school year! Cute pictures!

Great first day of school for the grand girls !! Sweet photos

Jury duty is over, you didn't get selected :)

I have never been called for jury duty before, one time DH was called and was excused as he had a trip already planned for the time of the trial.

Way to go, continuing to follow healthy routines :) !!

Yes. A new school year begins and new routines to be established. Glad the girls are off to a good start and jury duty has been served. I have not been summoned in awhile. It seemed that I used to get summoned every couple of years. I have served as a juror on three occasions: once in municipal court, once in superior court, and once in federal court. Two were criminal cases and one was civil.

emoticon Glad you didn't have to serve jury duty. My DH is now 70 and is exempt if he doesn't want to serve.

The girls are back to school, wow I thought kids didn't go back until September. Shows how much I know, no grands for me yet. Hope their school year starts off well!

What a great start to the school year... glad your j-duty day went OK, too. My sister simply answered the questions honestly and got eliminated the one time she was part of a selection pool. I wasn't even among those being asked the questions the one time I was called. I've always thought it would an interesting thing to do. But so far, haven't had to actually serve in that capacity.

Lovely photos! Ready to rock school to be sure. Glad things went well for your jury duty. I sometimes wonder how people get picked, some more than once and some never.. Its supposed to be a random draw.
    You are doing amazing!
