Crochet help needed please.

Sunday, August 12, 2018

Need some help with a blanket project. This is my first attempt at crochet and obviously I noticed the decrease in stitch count (I unravelled the start 4 times and kept doing it) I eventually decided it is what it is and kept plucking away. It is my first project so just finishing it will be an accomplishment. I am now to the point I am not going to start over but wondering if adding a border would salvage the blankets looks? Would it be possible to stair step the border to eventually match the original width? Has anyone tried this and has it worked? Would a big thick ruffle edge work and hide the discrepancy? As mentioned I am new to crochet so reading patterns is a foreign concept. I found the pattern on a video so any help needs to be laymen. Thanking you in advance!! Also I know where I was going wrong and I will no doubt count each row from now. Lesson learned.

A big ruffle would make it less obvious. I wouldn't try to snug it in with a border, as that would cause it to ripple - still would look obvious. But a ruffly border would help disguise it.

Good job otherwise! I did much worse on my first ones...
